At this point in the game there arent more options. You have the choice between rolling the dice on a billionaire who claims to be progressive or going with the individual who is outright not going to be progressive in any way shape or form. Porter is cooked, and this election is a bummerfest, but that doesnt change it’s nature

This one of the weirdest ongoing stories right now. Mostly because she isn’t even denying it.

She’s just like, straight guilty plea, yeah I did it, it was me, I’m the secret agent. Doesn’t she understand American politics? You’re supposed to just deny, delay, defer until you get to the next election cycle.

I mean policy wise, Steyer is clearly to her left. Porters did get Pelosied when she went for Senate previously, but her performance in this election cycle has been her own. Porter also didn’t make in-roads with the rest of the squad and, well, I think that also has cost her.

Most importantly, at this point she’s sub 8% and is acting as a spoler to allow a Republican onto the ballot in November. She needs to take the L, drop out, and endorse Steyer.

If I could wave a wand, I’d make it Porter vs Steyer for the governership. Because yes, eat the billionaire, but I’m gonna vote on policy every time. And they are objectively better than the rest in this regard.

As an aside, I also wish Harris would have run. Not because I want Harris but because I want her not-involved-whatsoever in the next presidential election.

One thing was not showing up for other progressives. She seemed to think of the label as a pejorative and I think that cut against her. I think she should have tried to be more squad/ squad adjacent and she really didn’t show up for other members of the squad in her votes or with her voice. That being said I see her defeat in the Senate race as a pure rat-fucking on the part of the DNC, so its a mixed bag. Honestly, I guess I realized what it was that I was often more-so rooting against Porters opponent than I was actually rooting for Porter. But thats also good instinct on her part, picking good fights.

Like I think she could have beat Schiff if she would have tried to be more of a stand-out-progressive in her time in congress. Then she just kind-of continously kept falling short and having melt-down after melt-down, and it was like ‘aight your time is up’.

I was down in SDO a bit ago and all I saw were Steyer ads. Like wall to wall. One Bacera ad.

Oh I wouldn’t vote for her at this point. She’s been a bit of a disaster for a couple years now.

Like you, I’d vote for Steyer. They’re genuinely the best option and the only progressive in the race.

As bad as it is, and yes, before the apologists come in, yes it’s worse under Trump, Quality of life has declined year over year for decades, under Democratic and Republican administrations.

Biden wasn’t an improvement. Neither was Trump’s first term. Things didn’t improve under Obama. Life got objectively harder for all Americans under Bush. Clinton sold out unions and the middle class with NAFTA. Bush Sr. continued all the processes that started this downwards spiral under Reagan.

Americans are entering into almost their sixth decade of a continuous downward spiral of quality of life that has been a cooperative project under Democratic and Republican administrations to carve off and sell America for parts.

The neoliberalism and the white supremecy required to support it are the core of the issue, and that is a collaborative project both Republicans and Democrats participate in.

Buttigeig is an empty suit you pour money into then it stands up and walks around. His primary claim to fame was sabotaging Bernie in 2020. And apparently being an “excellent” transportation secretary (you know, while fucking over unions under biden) I guess. I’m not saying they aren’t a threat but they’re so far up Ezra Kleins ass I don’t see how they can pretend they aren’t anything but a thirdway walking cat-turd.

If Harris was going to be the candidate she needed to face a robust primary, like any Democrat should. It’s not just about understanding the candidate but about forcing them to be better in hard positions.

Even with that, Harris could have easily won if she would have ignored blue Maga and the third way crowd. If she would have let Walz be Walz. If she would have leaned into being the party of the left instead of trying to be diet republican.

It’s about what you advocate for not what you claim to do. Like, no one is fooled by the gimmick of you claiming to vote one way, while you repeatedly and consistently are doing things and advocating for approaches that objectively hurt Democrats ability to stop fascism. No amount of cosplaying as if “you voting” changes the fact that you’ve actively and persistently advocated for all of the strategies and decisions which resulted in fascism taking over. Your vote doesn’t wash your hands clean. You did all the thing fascism needed you to for it to take over, and voting for Harris doesn’t give you a hall pass.

And you aren’t unique in this. There is a whole political enterprise collapsing in on itself also based on your world view. And it also would align with fascists and Republicans to work against the interests of the American people.

No amount of ABWD or blue maga undies the damage you sought to do.

I mean there is just so much less for me to do at this point. The world and voting public have largely come to adopted the understanding and worldview I’ve been putting out all these long years. They used to need me to explain it to them: now they can explain it themselves.

Instead of having to explain it and call it out, people just recognize fascism now.
