I was being sarcastic. EU is anything but democratic.
We must remember that EU is a democracy (not): therefore this is what the majority of EU citizens want.

1·18 days agoThis kind of empty sentences do not make EU a democracy. “The democracy is in the process” – no, the process shows that there’s no democracy. “It’s how a functioning democracy is supposed to work” – no it isn’t. A democracy establishes a referendum for such invasive measures.
We aren’t speaking about empty technical definitions here. Also China is a “republic of the people” then – it’s even in its name.
This kind of empty legalese, this Newspeak, does not help anyone. Call slavery ‘freedom’ and then tell the slaves “you’re free! you see? This is how functioning freedom is supposed to work. It’s in the process”.
🤝 It should be posted in other interested communities on Lemmy (and Mastodon). I imagine it has already; yet this is the first time I heard of it.
Great piece, thank you for sharing!
As events unfolded, the participant who drew attention to the posts was banned first. The author of the offensive material was banned later after their identity was verified.
I’ve also noticed a tendency of censorship in KDE’s forums, for posts that are simply inconvenient, even if written in a civilized way.
Funny that instead of learning from Windows 11’s failure, some people just want to follow the same path…

I’m having that problem on my mobile’s Firefox browser, but not on my laptop’s. My impression is that there are two problems:
-
There’s a first computing-based check from Cloudflare. The mobile is too slow to pass it in time, so it’s redirected to the captchas. My laptop is fast enough, so I don’t see captchas there.
-
Something with Ublock or Firefox’s Enhanced Tracking Protection or similar settings breaks the captchas. So I’m stuck in a loop. Though I heard other users who were not stuck even with ETP and Ublock…
Maybe worth trying to access via Tor Browser, or a clean profile on Firefox.

Linux@lemmy.ml•Debian Votes To Allow "Responsible Use Of Generative AI"
286·2 months agoAt first I was afraid that they would allow for an irresponsible use. But no, they explicitly say “responsible”, so that danger is no more. I’m very much relieved.
Also they explicitly mention that humans will remain accountable. Not Nature, or Fate, or the gods; mark that. Good thinking there!
Problems solved.

Privacy@lemmy.ml•Stop Killing The Internet: No Digital ID & No Age Verification | European Citizens' Initiative
242·2 months agoThis initiative is just a smokescreen; it actually pushes things down the slippery slope.
Citizens must not be forced to identify themselves to access lawful online content or services unless strictly necessary, proportionate and provided by law. The legislation should require anonymous or pseudonymous proof-of-age, data minimisation, selective disclosure
Define “necessary”. Define “by law”. The pushers for proof-of-age already say it’s anonymous – but it can’t be.
