In a fantasy version of America in my head, the lower trial judges would put President Trump to trial over this and numerous, numerous other corrupt acts, and make their rulings un-appealable to the full Supreme Court because many of the Supreme Court judges are directly implicated by the same investigations into Trump.

Yeah i seriously see this looking from the outside. There’s a whole gradient of nuance between the extremes of “It’s over, the billionaire backed DNC are Republicans just with nice words, nothing will ever change” and “We did it, it’s over for Trump, MAGA and the Republicans, Democrats have it in the bag, everything will be okay without any further action from us”. You can be optimistic or skeptical about whether change for the better can happen, but you don’t have to be completely nihilist nor complacent.

Keep going, keep envisioning what progress you want to see for the future, what changes and prosecution you want to see to prevent the resurgence of MAGA, and work towards that.

I gotta say law professors have better be putting together a book on this because this administration’s representative attorneys are giving out the most hare-brained excuses to justify Trump’s narcissism, con-artistry and lawbreaking and pettiness.

What Democrats could do is fundraise to change an ICE detention facility into a Trump Hotel, a high security jail to put Trump while we have the probable cause of some conviction, deny him bail like he has countless immigrants and have him investigated and tried for his crimes. As a luxury we can serve sparkling Dilley concentration camp water too.
