And no reporting about the Trump family snatching up all the SI top level domain names.

Reporters are so lazy these days.

they’re so hard-up for cash they have to try to squat on a bunch of domains using a stupid idiotic domain hack and scam some buyerslosers when they unload 'em.

As far as I know, this hasn’t been really confirmed with a smoking gun, as it were. There was an independent journalist named Adam Cochran who claimed this on X: https://x.com/adamscochran/status/2105090249445769519 . And it’s true that .si is the country domain for Slovenia, where Melania comes from, and where Barron also has dual citizenship. And it does look like there were several .si domains were purchased shortly before Trump’s announcement and then sold for huge sums, like “build.si.” But I don’t think it’s actually documented that there’s a direct connection to the Trump family in this, and that’s probably why mainstream news sources aren’t covering it at this point. Someone knew about this ahead of time and made money off it, and given this administration’s history, it would be kinda foolish to just trust that the Trumps aren’t among them. But it’s a big actual allegation to make without direct proof.

Can’t Slovenia revoke any domain using its TLD?

Would be a chance to do something funny to the slop industry. Especially if they coordinated it.

That’s usually done if the contents are criminal or infringe a trademark, etc, not just for any reason. Each TLD operator can essentially establish their own rules but they have to let ICANN review and if you have open domain sign-ups then ICANN will get mad at you if you break the rules you committed to (this will mostly be handled in private and there’s not much chance a country will lose the right to maintain their own TLD, but private companies operating TLDs might)
