To conduct the arrest, the ICE officers used two vehicles to block Bergal’s car. After he refused orders to exit his car, Bergal accelerated and smashed into the ICE vehicles, Charles said.
Charles said Bergal “then weaponized his vehicle and proceeded to accelerate, going towards other officers.” The officers responded by firing their weapons, believing “that their life and the life of the partners and general public were in danger,” he said.

Has more extensive video been released? I keep seeing stories that say something about the video “in the aftermath” or “immediately after”.
Given how so many people have so many cameras, and there should be body cams, I’m thinking that footage should turn up…
Bergal stopped his car after he was “struck by one of the bullets or fragments superficially in the neck,” Charles said. “We arrested him, rendered first aid, and then took him to the hospital.”
Body camera footage from the New York City police officers who responded to the shooting show they were the ones who transported Bergal to the hospital to receive medical care.
So the story is barely 24 hours old, and ICE already is caught in a provable lie - that they took him to the hospital. As we’ve seen from their prior murders, ICE has a history of not only not taking victims to the hospital, but actively refusing to let bystanders administer medical care.
It’s not clear why they even say “weaponized his vehicle” anymore since ICE saying that is historically proof more that the victim didn’t rather than did. I suppose they need some soundbite, even if eventually provably false, for bots and nazis on X to signal-boost.
