President Donald Trump issued a foreboding proclamation during a speech in Maryland on Tuesday, just hours after he predicted a “Midterm Surprise!” in a Truth Social post.

“Director of the Office of Management and Budget, Russ Vought, who’s fantastic, he’s on a job, we have some big surprises coming up in another few weeks. Right, Russ?” Trump said. “He’s gonna be one of the very important people in the history of our country, in my opinion. He’s got some great things happening.”

Trump did not expand on what these so-called “surprises” would be.

Outside his role in the Trump administration, Vought is the primary architect of Project 2025, the conservative Heritage Foundation’s blueprint for a second Trump term.

While not mentioned specifically by Trump, many critics online speculated that Trump was referring to some sort of plan to interfere in the midterm elections.

“Between this and his ‘midterm surprise,’ the time to prepare for him to try to steal an election is now,” Fox News host Jessica Tarlov wrote on X.

Other commenters suggested that Vought could use his official capacity to interfere with the elections.

“I know nothing about Project 2025”

I think he might try and end up triggering a civil war instead when states ignore the order.

Yeah? How do you see that playing out? Can you explain what civil war in that scenario would look like?

States that either ignore or block Donald attempts rig or cheat the voting system vs thos the unilateral back him and the federal gov. He seems to be indicating that he’s going to interfere with the system.

Whole states are going to go to war with other states, eh? People are just blindly going to engage in violent conflict because their elected officials tell them too? Are they going to war using line infantry too?

I encourage you to really think through your original statement and the actual likelihood of that outcome. Unless your goal was to just make a bombastic doomer comment that really means nothing.

He has all four branches of our military in his pocket. Dude. Downplaying a threat like this is dangerous. People need to be prepared.

I think you’re getting trapped up in the small details, trying too hard to be right about something, and entirely missing the point. But I’ll help you with those endorphins and stand corrected.

                Yes. It’s wouldn’t be a civil war.

I think you are confusing ad hominem with a simple accusation, but that you think it is, I’m going to go ahead and block you to avoid being reported for hurting feelings.
