  • The only qualification a voter needs is to be subject to the authority of the State. Any other calls to “qualify” voters is voter suppression. It’s VoterID, Poll taxes, and Literacy tests.

If a voter decides on a candidate because Mars is in retrograde, that’s just as legitimate as the vote of the head of the political science department. low information voter = anti-democracy. If you can exclude them because their stupid, then you can exclude them for being black or a woman too. You can whittle it down until you get the utopia of the superior, or fascism as it’s commonly known.

If your system requires improved and enlightened humanity, then your system is tyrannical and sucks.

  • Age limits in Congress are popular among Americans

Well, who’s reelecting him then, Canadians? Do Americans believe that incumbents have an advantage because voters are too stupid to choose? Maybe the problem here isn’t the voters but the systems that have been built by the political machine? Why is it popular for American voters to want to limit their own power?

For every complex problem there is a solution that’s simple, elegant, easy to understand and wrong. Age/ Term limits make perfect sense, unless you think about them.

  • Their are valid criticisms of “human rights”, and legitimate reasons to reject the concept. The biggest reason is the concept of ‘human rights’ is just a re-tread of the ‘rights of kings’, that is a justification for State violence.

When the cops crack your skull, they’re protecting property rights. When the US invaded Iraq, Bush said we were protecting the freedom and human rights of Iraqi citizens. The invasion of Ukraine was justified as protecting the rights of ethnic Russians living in Ukraine.

The idea that “human rights” protect human beings is pretty dubious.
