What, afraid one of the other techies would uwu back?

If they (budget-givers) won’t let you (plural, team) get budget to alternativise the software, that is an indication that the catgirl is not really an issue. Or, alternatively, that to them the catgirl is worth that much money.

How? Having bad people badding about your stuff is bad overall.

So they dismiss it because of looks, but hey, do tell, do they support technofascism tools because of how they perform?

2026
mistrusting a firewall because of a changeable anime catgirl when there’s technofascist executing and leading technofascism on IT all abroad
Your teammates are stupid (not to mention they are probably projecting their own fetishes, denialists and negationists are like that) and they deserve to be derided. Changing the logo of a program these days is, like, two lines in a script.

We can just fork the latest kernel version we feel comfortable with.

He was already pretty dumbed down back when he used to shit on C++. From there to the neutering he went on (we don’t get middle fingers for Nvidia anymore) and now this… it’s sad to watch.
Die a hero or else, as the saying goes.

Oooh that’s a nice trick!
That attitude, the “‘No AI whatsoever’ is unrealistic” one.
Sure, if you go with that attitude.

Yeah but that still means you have to get into crypto which is a well-known scam (and from what I gather even if there might be “legal” crypto exchanges, that “legal” carries its own implications there).

In practical terms, what does this mean for a Q9 user in France? That they have to set it up via DOH?

Protip: if your TV is hi-def but can still play analog (“air signal”) then it by nature does upscaling. Then again tbf, it’s been nearly a decade since I last saw a TV that couldn’t fake-it-till-you-make-it it.

The pinky promise to not look at who you are on the tech side is only useful if it’s also accompanied with the promise to not know who you are on the business side ie.: not requiring any kind of payment data.
Easily pay using Bitcoin’s Lightning Network for better privacy, instant payments, and lower transaction fees. We also accept Monero.
Crypto? That’s almost worse!

I recommend nothing higher than 720p, maybe 1080p in exceptional cases where you like the content very much and you expect integer scaling (up or down) to do a good enough work on whatever player will be playing. 480p can be fine for some things, even 360p (which has the advantage of integer scaling readily to 720p but the effect is only worth it for something like older animated programmes). Audio is different and lighter and you can go with higher qualities (on the same number of channels) without much issue.
Remember the basic maths: halving the target resolution and scaling down the bitrate accordingly effectively opens up a reduction in size of up to 75% (each frame saves one rectangle instead of four), but beyond that it really depends on the codec and the visual structure of the content), and the result can be replayed on the original resolution simply by doing hardware integer scaling.
As for codecs, if you are already going with Jellyfin, just pick the most efficient codec you can find. If you need compatibility just go with the classics that play even on a 2000s “smart” TV.

Even on Linux desktop browser with fine-tuned uBO and API blockers and with several settings disabled it takes 560 MB and ~15% CPU on its tab plus whatever it is slicing from the general context thread. I can only dread what more it eats if you are not trying to restrict what it can do. Comparatively, the entire IRC client process I’m running (connected to various things) takes 65 MB + shared context.

This is a case where you don’t actually need to “social!convince” anyone. It’s piracy, you are aiming for people who already want to go where the links are. You put the pirate stuff over IRC, people will go to the IRC. You put it on a Discourse forum, people will go to the Discourse forum. You put a catgirl to weigh their souls beforehand to check they are human, they’ll praise the catgirl.
Wait to their reaction when they find out that sports teams mascots are just corporate fursonas.
