I have a series of Tasmota esp32’s with Temp/Humidity/Barometric Pressure sensors around the house, attic, garage and outside. I scrape it into influxdb and have a Grafana dashboard setup.

That’s… hard to read. A lot of emojis where words would be a noticeable improvement.

Honestly, they’re likely already doing it for surveillance of their citizens anyway.

Congress needs to make a law/bill instead to require stringent checks that verify zero remote telemetry, crash testing/safety scores and equipment, fuel efficiency requirements, lighting/functionality requirements, etc.
Then if the Chinese ones pass, cool. If they don’t then the “ban” is in place like they wanted.
My guess is they won’t because the “big three domestic” manufacturers won’t pass either.

And why is hacking other companies not illegal with massive penalties and jail time? Oh right because they’re rich.
If a random hacker kid breaks into a company, he’ll be in jail and destitute for the rest of his life. These companies just flaunt it and it’s sickening.
I found a pack of 5 on Amazon for $20, for each of the sensors and the esp32’s… so $40 for 5. Probably cheaper in Ali or similar. The only negative is they need some calibration. The ones from Adafruit are better quality and already calibrated, but much more expensive.
