I’ve been tempted to! I’m not sure how well I’d do though, it’s a weirdly religious part of LA and I’m very not. But I think I could run for school board when my own personal life settles down a bit more and I have money to run, though.
Shitposter while I tend to two babies. Maybe when I have my life back, I’ll help us get a few more niche communities back?

Valid point, haha. Also I’m still voting anyway, my local city has pretty awful choices though for some reason.

I’m unfortunately in one of the cities in LA with its own local government so no go on being able to vote on this… which is unfortunate given how much of an impact it’ll have on us.

At one point, I saw 99% and laughed. I knew we were in for bad polling.
Vote early if you can, too.

Correct, it’s somewhat rare but for example, the city of Santa Ana was in the news sometime in the last year for allowing non-citizen voting in local elections. It makes sense for them, although it I’m being honest, it makes sense for any long term residents to be allowed to vote if they’re paying taxes.

And with a third child on the way, no less!

I suppose “true believer” might be a correct term? I simply meant someone who believes in something (even if it’s obviously not actually their book) rather than someone who is strictly using it to manipulate or fit in or what have you.

I’m grateful I accepted myself as a godless atheist long before this shit came up. If I was a Christian, a real Christian anyway, I’d be so fucking pissed off by this guy.
I mean, I’m pissed off by this guy anyway, but not in a divine way at least.

Waaaay too many of his voters were Latinos. Possibly still are, at least with machismo men.

I’ll never understand why anyone would swallow very hot drinks. The article is mostly about that, hot coffee or tea can still be pleasantly warm and fine. But I knew people who drink their coffee painfully hot and… why? To feel ALIVE?
Granted I also don’t understand why people smoke or drink alcohol so… eh.

Oh yeah, how could I forget TMZ. It’s so fucking backwards in 2026.
Locally, one of the most insane ones is food blogger LA Taco getting into ICE reporting and interviewing. Obviously when legacy media fails, people still try to step up.

What next, Teen Vogue or Buzzfeed?
(No but seriously I love when these places do hard hitting shit out of the blue, although it hasn’t ended well in both cases).
Yeah, I figured Chromebook is just the next generation of this stuff and the mac gifting is probably on decline now that they’ve got their market share. It’s good to hear an edtech perspective though. It’s all about cost at this point, I imagine…
Ironically, the US is practically already off MS in schools and has been for a while but it’s Mac and Google Suite that took over. I literally had a college student in my class ask “What is Excel?” as it was listed as an option to conduct calculations.
It’s not better, but I thought that was funny. Big reason that happened, btw, Apple gifted whole computer labs to schools back when it was trying to get market share in the 90s, and now Google does likewise with Chromebook. Too bad there isn’t a Linux organization with enough money to do something like that, as it’s much more effective than banning something.

The funny thing is he even started himself a progressive black Democrat when first elected. He clearly isn’t.

Well, except most house races are too safe to care about Republican (or Democrat) challengers to even do that. Hakeem won with 75% of the vote in the general.
So they really don’t need to win any voters over, they win simply by virtue of belonging to the dominant party in their district. That said, they need to win their party leadership, and it’s financial owners, over… hence how the system is so insanely corrupt.

As much as I don’t like her… ACAB
It’s very interesting to hear your perspective. They’re getting hit by propaganda, that’s for sure, and I see a lot of Mexican-American men in Los Angeles acting the same way. There is definitely a toxic masculinity problem for young Latino men, as bad or worse than White men.
I’m not sure if half your county is lost, but without proper education and upward social mobility they may remain ignorant. Poverty and religion tends to promote ignorance, and Mexico has a lot of that. At least your president and government seems to be doing a fantastic job from what I can tell (although the bar is pretty low). Universal healthcare, public support for affordable EVs… uh, their own national chocolate production(?), I hear a lot of things almost every week. It might not change overnight but that’s how you push for better future generations.

The real question is who has an unsaved lesson plan open on their laptop. Just fuckin’ improv style teaching method.
I have used AI a little for Linux adaptation but I do want to caution overuse since it’ll sometimes give you really bad advice, like regarding important dependencies and such. Sometimes it cites info for a wrong distro or outdated info, so it’s not so much made up BS, just bad search results essentially.
