Good to know. I was noticing stuttering and slowdown type issues since the update
Transfered from Feddit.ch as they closed up shop unfortunately.

Privacy@lemmy.ml•what is the best out-of-the-box (more or less) streaming box?English
41·27 days agoTry Kodi with a Debrid service such as TorBox. There’s a Flatpak to try it out on an existing computer then you can make a dedicated RPi5 LibreElec box if you like it. The UI setup isn’t easy but once you figure out how to set it up nicely it works great.
PS. This is piracy stuff but that’s the only way you’ll get privacy. Be very wary of popular piracy streaming boxes like the VeeSee as they come loaded with malware.

When I was in school they provided me an outlook email. I used it only for school and made sure not to put in too much personal detail. If I had to use a personal email I’d use an alias. When I had to access it at home I’d login via a website. No systems schools use are in any way good for privacy so just keep it isolated as well as possible
Create guest networks with AP isolation for IOT and guests. Switch to a good DNS such as Quad9 or NextDNS, enable Wireguard for all devices on your network. Set a strong admin password and disable remote/WAN access to your router.
Check out the list of extra packages available on their website, you’ll get ideas for all types of cool stuff you can do.

Privacy@lemmy.ml•What's your preferred style of profile setup in GrapheneOS: use Main as a daily and create other secondary profiles, or use main as an admin console?English
1·2 months agoI tend to use my main profile as my main one and set up secondary profiles for whatever I might need them for. I tried a private space but really wished it shared the VPN with my main profile so I didn’t like it much.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Router recommendation for newbieEnglish
4·2 months agoA Gl.inet router is easy to use with it’s stock firmware. I recommend getting one and keeping it stock at least for awhile. You can still use Luci to get more in-depth while also having a simple to understand interface as a backup. It has Adguard built in as well as other things like VPNs and Tailscale and packet inspection. Of course through Luci you can install all sorts of stuff. The Flint 2 has good hardware to be able to run lots of addons
Thank you very much! I messed with this stuff a little in the past but have since learned more about Linux and the info you give here will really help. I’ll definitely check the installer first hoping it’ll be easier to setup
I have never thought about it but the thought gives me something to learn more about
This all makes enough sense to me. I know enough to be able to figure out what you said here and to learn a few more things along the way. Thank you very much!
Are you saying all this if I use Raid0 like crystalwalrus was saying?
Get a late year (facelift) L320 or L322 Range Rover/Sport or LR4. 2011-2014ish. They have plenty of luxuries, status, looks, horsepower, safety, and very very minimal to no privacy invasion.

Privacy@lemmy.ml•Would OS age verification laws affect a Google account on GrapheneOS?English
1·4 months agoIf Google requires it to have an account active then yeah you’ll need to do it. How? That depends on how they choose to make it work. As for if Google will somehow recognize that you’re on an unverified OS or something like that and refuse to allow your account to work on it is another question we’ll be hearing more about later this year.
