I think Democrats have cooled their 2a rhetoric in general since Beto’s campaign. They realize it alienates a lot of the independent voters they need.
True, but it’s also worth noting that Pew shows the blue lean among voters born after 1990 is way less pronounced than it was 10 years ago. In 2016 they swung 37 points blue, in 2020 26 points, and in 2024 only 13 points.
Young people need to get engaged, but they also need to break out of these icky propaganda bubbles they’re caught in. Hopefully life in Trump’s America has woken some of them up, but at the same time the left really needs to build something worth switching sides for.
At this point, Trump feels like the sin eater. Everybody knows he’s deeply unpopular. Let him put his name on every cursed initiative to cede power to the corporations and see how long you can wait to completely disavow him on his way out the door. Keep the bribers lobbyists happy and minimize fallout from your constituents. Let the billionaire-controlled media spin it up for you.
