Yeah I think most people get their beliefs as a package deal. For them its “either you’re XYZ or you’re not XYZ”. There’s no cognitive nuance to understand that someone might assert X but not Y or Z, etc. And so when someone comes along saying “I’m a Not-X” they suddenly go “oh, so you’re a Not-Z then too huh???”

I am saying:

The reason I say this is because, even if they do none of those things, they will still constitute the lesser of two evils for all future elections. That fact, coupled with the base’s strong conviction to vote for the lesser evil, means the House Democrats will not have “hell to pay” with the base.

The only thing that I said was that there will not be hell to pay for the Democrats if they do not enact any meaningful change. And, indeed, there won’t be, because if they did win this next time around, and they didn’t enact any meaningful change, and then next time around, when it came time to vote again, we would be having the exact same discussion, and I would be lampooned in the exact same way, for the exact same reasons that you’ve already laid out right here and now. And so very plainly there will not be hell to pay for the Democrats.

What would hell to pay consist of if not them not being voted for?

And so if you agree that we all must vote for the Democrats, for the presidential election, then I don’t see how that isn’t equivalent to saying there won’t be hell to pay for Democrats.

I didn’t tell anyone not to vote. Everyone should vote for who they want to. If someone wants to vote, then by all means, please do. Everyone should vote for whoever they want to vote for.

The only person telling people how to vote and being a dick about it is you.

You’re just adjusted to the cool stuff so that it doesn’t seem cool, but like just a regular part of life. Notice that in most cyberpunk fiction, none of the characters really seem to think that anything is particularly cool or futuristic around them. After all, that’s just their regular life.

Hmm yes I think a lot of this exists but isn’t being called by this term. It’s a good term. It kinda means what cyberpunk originally meant before it got hollowed out and turned into primarily an aesthetic term.
