The problem with not attempting another impeachment is that it even further lowers the bar for what counts as impeachable behavior. The lesson going forward for conservatives will be that corruption, personal enrichment, stealing and hoarding classified information, inviting other nations to meddle in our elections, using EOs like they allow you to dictate new laws, and mob-style ‘negotiating’ with our allies, are all perfectly OK from now on.
In Oregon we ONLY do paper ballots so best of luck to the Feds if they try to dictate how my state exercises its constitutional guarantee to run it’s own elections.
I suppose a state can sign it’s rights away in a contract just like any other entity, but I’d love to know if one EVER HAS. Because I don’t think that’s up to GEO and ICE to determine between the two of them which laws they are obligated to follow or not. At first I assumed that ICE had gotten some actual US State to agree to this, which would be horrible but at least would make more sense than a private fucking company and a federal agency unilaterally declaring they won’t follow the laws of the state they are operating in, which is what this appear to be.
If they’re smart (ha) then they’ll just generate a bunch of buzz and fear about how ICE might be out and about on election day, so that as many people as possible from vulnerable populations (aka non-male non-white people) are too scared for their lives and freedom to go vote.
Oh boy if Federal officers start yanking people out of voting booths or intercepting people on their way to vote on election day we are going to have a fucking shit show.

If he’s not dead dead, which admittedly seems like it would hard to keep secret for a month and a half, it seems pretty likely that he knows he isn’t fit to serve and is simply waiting on announcing that until it’s too late for the people of Kentucky to have a say about his successor. Which would, as many have noted, be a perfect way for this ghoul to end his career, fucking over his constituents one last time on his way out the door.
