  • It’s indicative of our situation that all republicans have to do is tout some vulnerable minority to be attacked, and their base eats it up.

What troubles me, is that none of these democrats are saying the right thing in response. What they should be saying is this:

You know a lot has been said about trans people in America, but what’s gotten lost is that they’re Americans. They have the right to pursue happiness as they see fit, and as long as they aren’t hurting anybody else, I don’t give a shit what they do, and neither should you. If you’re going to attack and legislatively bind a vulnerable minority population in America, you better have a damn good reason. And “ew! I don’t like it!” - ain’t it.

  • This random addition stood out to me

Phil Plummer — who was then Montgomery County Sheriff — to enter politics.

“My jail was 40% drug addicts, 50% mental health patients, 10% criminals,” said Plummer, who has been a Republican state representative since 2019. “We got it upside down — that’s what drove me to the state house.”

Plummer, the Montgomery County Republican chairman, is now on the ballot for the Ohio state Senate and stressed that Trump has been what keeps the GOP’s coalition of businesses and working-class families together.

How can you look at a jail, full of untreated mental illness (addiction is a mental illness), and think "we just need even more regressive policies! Wouldn’t wanna vote for universal healthcare and more mental counseling! Nope! Gimme those draconian puritanical laws that trap vulnerable abused people in a cycle of poverty and crime! Yee-Haw!

  • Cassidy said he voted to confirm Kennedy because he received commitments that Kennedy would not change certain vaccine policies and guidance. For example, Cassidy said when announcing his vote, Kennedy pledged to maintain a federal vaccine advisory committee “without changes.” Once in office, Kennedy ousted all 17 members of the committee and named his own advisers.

Real Leopards Ate My Face material right there

Kennedy’s Samoa visit has become one of the most contentious events in his career. At the time, he was leading a nonprofit known for its anti-vaccine activism. Critics said the visit fueled anti-vaccine sentiment in Samoa, which later experienced the measles outbreak that killed 83 people, mostly children under 5.

And his drug-induced paranoia lead to a growing climate of anti-vax sentiment which resulted in the death of 83 people.

  • ICE agent Christian Castro. Castro, who is jailed in Brownsville, is charged with allegedly shooting Julio Cesar Sosa-Celis through the front door of a home in Minneapolis in January during Operation Metro Surge then lying about it.

The Trump DOJ blocked Minnesota from participating in the ultimately aborted federal investigations into the fatal shootings of Renee Good and Alex Pretti and for months withheld from state investigators and prosecutors the evidence it had initially collected after those shootings.

the Trump DOJ has threatened criminal prosecution of the victims of a road-rage-style incident in which ICE agent Gregory Morgan, Jr. allegedly brandished his service weapon at a random driver while passing him on the right shoulder. As a result, the victims have taken the Fifth rather that testify, forcing Minnesota prosecutors to seek immunity for their testimony — immunity that the Trump DOJ has refused to give.

Just some real fascist shit. Threatening victims, denying justice, terrorizing people that didn’t vote for him.

The guillotine and hanging is too quick, I say a good hot tar and feathering, followed by public humiliation and slowly rotting to death in a jail cell is called for.
