Ask your local political party (or union) and volunteer for tech stuff for them.
Ask what they use, contribute to that. Or if they use something bad, suggest something good to them, then work on that.

impractical for an airplane
Depending on how much effort you’re willing to put in, I would suggest switching material.
Use fiber reinforced plastic.
The process can be done at home, though you may need some practice. You can print the shape you want with a thicker wall thickness and then use that as a negative. You get the best results if you have a compressor and can use vaccum techniques to get the excess plastic out of the material. This will put you in the thickness space you want, and it will still work, and you don’t have warping problems.

I don’t know much about 3d printing, so disclaimer. The modern printers are very much built on open source so it shouldn’t matter too much which screen you use.
I have also not done a firmware flash myself yet, but doing that sounds plausible to me.
I can’t believe that was the only issue that made someone trash it.
As you can see (and as you will see), it’s a bit tinkering leaning hobby, if someone doesn’t have the energy, patience, skill or motivation to learn, a broken part can be a major problem. I don’t think there are repair shops you can go to…

I am genuinely surprised people still get arrested for that. I suppose protection is only for the super top dogs.
Or that’s how they recruit people. Either find those with that kind of history, then make them work by offering, then spring the trap anyway, “for justice”.
The only reason to use blender and why blender has one, is CG animation work. It would be silly to have the interface where you do exactly the same thing as in a video editor, except with the timing of animations instead of footage, but not have one for footage as well. Especially if the animation sometimes depends on when which part of the footage plays.
Rendering, exporting, importing, finding a detail is wrong, is more annoying than having it right there in the same UI.

How can I teach myself how to offer small improvements to the projects I use?
Programming in general?
Probably more that if you want to work on graphics software, you need to understand graphics programming?
That’s unfortunately very difficult. I know of no good way to do that. With specification based software, you can at least read the specification or related standard and then it flows from that how it should work. With programs that server a different, specific use case, there is a manual, and flow to things and then “things stick out”.
If there are issues, you just read a bunch of issues and read the code that they are about and get a feeling for why the issue is an issue and why the code is the way that it is.
I remember one thing I helped with for a short while, didn’t use the python “with” file writing dialogue, because the file they were writing was massive and opening it in one place, then doing a bunch of functions that wrote and appended to the file and then closing it somewhere else, was the best solution, even though it looked unclean at first.

First of all,
I don’t understand where the restrictions are going to lie
Yes. That’s exactly the question.
The point of the… excitement around this is exactly the uncertainty. We simply don’t know what the EU or national governments of the EU will do with this.
The first problem is that the “hardware bound attestation” isn’t just hardware bound, it’s specifically Apple and Android’s attestation and NOT the more open standard. That means the device that can do this thing, whatever it’s going to be “necessary” for, MUST always be an Apple or Google device, with that bit intact. Tbh, I don’t really know how much rooting affects this, but I would be surprised if it didn’t.
The second problem is that once the infrastructure for blocking access to something and requiring this sort of authentication is in place, it’s just a list of targets. It’s very easy to add another platform, website, app or anything else behind it.
And the reason for this excitement happening now is that the specification that was given for all this to happen previously only said it should be “secure” somehow, but not detailing the “how”. They think they can do it as an implementation detail and pretend it’s not a big deal. So it’s very clearly something those bastards have tried to be sneaky about.
Can you use rooted phones
No, whatever the point of their efforts is, they will make sure to not leave obvious loopholes like that open.

The only interesting thing about the numbers is that eventually, people outside the tech bubble will pick up on it and think about seeing what the fuss is about and if it’s a solution for them and then maybe also switching.
In that sense: I “heard” that the number is 20% actually. Windows is so over. It’s true. Pass it on.
But they’re not going to throw him out either, so… how about you work on those 1+1 skills.
