  • We’ll see in the next few months. I edited my comment while you were replying so you probably didn’t see, but a friend of mine just won against Flock in his own county, the sheriff and DA agreed to take them all down. And within the same day his citizen group got information that there is already a local bill in the works from the same politicians who pretended to support them - Democrats - That plans to just switch to new contractors that aren’t Flock. He’s going to keep fighting but it remains to be seen if the outrage here can carry the movement through the inevitable burnout / political exhaustion when people are confronted by the single-minded indifference of the political machine.

  • Short of a complete societal rejection of the global economic regime, there is no way for us to not be. The expensive deals have been inked. The money has been committed. Parties will be in debt to each other for hundreds of billions of dollars. It doesn’t matter if there is a law against taxpayers footing the bill or not, that amount of economic pressure will burst into and flood the larger economy and it will harm us all. It’s going to happen no matter what. We’re not yet angry enough at the severe economic harm that is about to befoul all of us.

  • My guess after doing some self-reflection as a Steam customer… Because there aren’t really any truly comparable alternatives, so until that becomes the case people with thousands of dollars of game licenses in Steam are paranoid about the idea of needless exodus away from the platform, as they don’t know how secure their purchases would be in the long term under that scenario. Competition risks stability. So they kneejerk downvote criticisms out of that paranoia. I think it’s far more that investment self-interest emotion than say, fanboyism of Valve.
