Yeah, of course. That’s what I’m saying. They aren’t suing for the right to be hateful. They already have that right. They are suing for the right to prevent the university from disassociating from them for being hateful. Which is to say they are suing to remove rights from those who disagree with them.

They have the right to make Nazi salutes. That’s protected by the US 1st Amendment. They will not face legal consequences for doing so. What they are suing for is taking away other people’s right to disassociate from them for making Nazi salutes.

I think that’s generous. I think the actual driving emotion behind this was Trump’s desire to feel powerful. Murdering people while knowing that their loved ones would never be able to return the favour to you seems to do that for him.
