  • First find a way to track your costs. Measure how much it costs to give it away (to your self and people that support you starting it as a buisness). Do market analysis based on those number. How much do you need to support both your operatiinal costs of hosting and devoloper time paid with a fair wage, and what does compare to how much consumers are currently paying. If that looks good invest in an accountant and lawyer to see what the buisness plan viability might look like and set up a LLC. From there look for partners that can help you create a sustainable buisness and fill in skill gaps you dont have, or hire out the rest.

    Thats it.

Even better make it a community coop so that the skilled labor and community can have actual ownership in the org to help balance out thr risk and encourage litteral buyin.

  • One idea that I think would be neat would be to expand it beyond written texts. For example: https://chewydecimalsystem.org/

I am somewhat biased in this regard too though, while physical location has to be tied to a singular thing, with digital mapping tag systems, even better if they are scalable, make for much more accurate catalogs.

For example the arch wiki is a reference source, but of what info? Hierachical stacking helps but falls apart when now the gaming sections of the arch wiki can’t be found next to the Windows gaming sections because they are isolated by OS instead of by gaming, or you are digging through every OSs collection of gaming information when you do have an OS specific question.

  • I use VMs for OS isolated and hardware isolation. I run containers on top of OSs for apps.

That said I use Harvester so I can run containers on bare metal AND VMs as containers.

Even on one bare metal I do this, so I can spin up a test VM of harvester to confirm configs. If you one node is super beefy a neat trick is to have VMs running a cluster so you can have a kind of high availability even if your infra is a single point of failure.

  • Hey, thank you for taking the time to say something. Yeah, no, I get it. I’m clinging to hope and meaning where I can find it because being boiling with rage but also having mostly slow moving solutions in front of me (boycotts, voting, working with mutual aid groups, supporting the union, shifting to worker or community owed businesses where I can, again voting in those cases, working on a community food forest with others, working with the community bike coop, help arm and train my community and yeah protests and awareness campaigns) has been maddening. None of these can go fast, the food forests is literally at the speed of trees and scrubs to grow. All while, kind of like you said, fucking fascist and old school corruption take root in the festering wound of apathy in our political environment.

Sometimes it’s just perception too, things seem like they are just in constant friction they something just clicks and people seem to just get it and it starts happening fast. Hell it’s been slow going for me to get past these things being a new thing for me to getting into the habit and just part of my day to day. I don’t want to be patient though and to certain extent we both can’t be and have to be. The genocides and ethic cleansing campaigns for example can’t wait of the food forest, I am at this point harassing people I know about it, I am supporting strikes and boycotts with military I know about it, getting people out of that sector where I can, and hounding people on the up coming elections, doing the call campaigns, supporting the flotillas, etc. it’s not enough it should be more but I’m at a lose myself there.

  • I get that more. I’m by no means suggesting rose colored glasses or worse plain ignorance. We do have acknowledge problems and meet the world where it is at. I am just highly opposed to giving up and not take back our symbols and meaning or to throwaway what the people who have fought the good fight because assholes have tried to make it there own too.

We can acknowledge the real harm alcoholism and it’s leading cause of generational trauma and continued government restrictions on the res but it is not all we are by any stretch of the imagination. In fact the only reason why it can be a problem is because we are still here, and have the full human spirit with us still. That spirit is also why we are still fighting for each other and why it’s worth it. Just like those that came before for those that have still yet to walk with us.

No doubt Israel and too many US politicians are to blame, but oppression is never stopped by the oppressor its up to us currently with privilege and good consciousness fight with the oppressed…

  • Feminism is definitely in defiance of the founding fathers ideals, antislavery and integration of native Americans definitely were and the fucked up things they let or supported against those ideals were criticized and fought against even then. Not that it matters they can suck, MLK and John Brown never talked about defended LGBTQ rights from what I recall either but that isn’t what they fought for.

Listen we have to fight against the systems of oppression for sure, but imho the reason why our movement isn’t as big as it needs because that’s all people do now, and fighting only against sucks. It’s not just ok, but it’s probably a fucking necessity to fight for something to.

When we do, and we have to, stop the genocide in Palestine are you going to write them off too as the “dissolute, overwhelmingly alcoholic and gambling-addicted defeated mass of disparate peoples” or whatever bullshit racist stereotypes bigots come up with next. Honestly fuck off with that raciest bullshit.

  • Their fights against oppression is part of that song. That’s the point. From Fredrick Douglass, John Brown, W.E.B. Du Bois, Tecumseh, Sitting Bull, Geronimo, Malcom X, MLK, Harvey Milk, and Rue Paul. From the suffergetes, the jayhawkers, the DSA, the IWW, AIM, the water protectors at DAPL and other places and many many more.

Too many have died from bastards trying to claim America in their name, but we keep fighting too and keeping making them history too. The genocide failed, us natives are still here.

Trust me we play the flag song at the powows because brave Americans fought against Nazis and again helped make them history.

So no I don’t need to inform anyone, those are the people that told me.

Don’t let the right wing claim the past and the future. “We” are also the people that fought like hell to kick those other peoples asses and add another verse in the song of freedom. “Our” values are also the ones that say we deserve equality by default. That liberty is an inherent right. Etc etc.

Its very funny but the “info” bubbles we have means that people stuck in that cult really think they got everything the want to believe proven right periodically and then think everyone who argued with them would reasonably feel stupid.

They werent right and no one else sees the fake news.

Its a tradegy for sure, but also very funny

  • I try to follow a multi-factor, multi-domain model.

So if I am wanting to verify that data is on the system I except it to be then TPM keys and measured boot is what I use. To verify it is on the network I expect I use a Tang server. To verify I have possession of a device I use, a hardware token and password.

You could do all the above, or mix match depending on the system. For example for servers I assume they need to boot without user intervention, so password is set as backup to the Tang server. I still use hardware token to buy just for quick revoktion of verification (i.e. I know a server is compromised or could be soon, I can just pull a USB out).

The same setup works for my laptops, which makes my network because of Tang act as trusted domain as well.

So again multi-factor (something you have, know, are, do) and multi-domain (network, user, machine).

I use Clevis to do the multi-key unlocks.
