  • I doubt it will be fixed without a major shift in the average American attitude. Yall over the pond still put too much emphasis on “everyone to their own devices”, rugged individualism ideology. It clearly doesn’t work.

But for the average American to understand that uplifting the lowest of the society literally helps EVERYONE (except the ultra wealthy capitalists) to a better life. Americans need to understand that chasing the possibility of becoming one of the elites, one of the billionaires - which, let’s be honest, is a daydream at best for 99.999% of the population - is not what life should be about. You don’t have to have 80%+ of the country suffering just to enable 0.001% to live like kings and the 19.99% to live an okay life. We have the technology, the science, the ability to ensure that baseline quality of life for literally everyone on this planet.

It just needs to come down to everyone having the base understanding that it’s not the [insert today’s favourite minority group to alienate]s causing their issues, but the capitalists seething the culture war so they can get richer.

And Dems are the problem too. They’re just as deep in the shit as the Republicans. Both parties need to be disbanded, most members banned from holding a public office, and then a reform wave of progressives needs to happen - ban lobbying, ban financial donations above a certain amount (I’d say $1000 per person per year is a valid limit), strict campaigning guidelines, and strict penalties for not delivering campaign promises. Keep your politicians in check, have a proper recall procedure, term limits, transparency in financials as a baseline, and so on.

  • You’re partially right. The issue is that most Americans seem to be content with conservative leaders while things are good - both culturally and economically.

And when things turn to shit, like they always do with conservative leaders, they will vote in a progressive one and “put up” with progressive policies - which are usually long term helpful - until they fix that shit.

And the moment things are looking better, they go right back to conservatives.

You can look back the past 60 years and the pattern is clear: conservative presidents and congress emerge when the economy is good, they’re handed a golden package that would literally keep improving if they literally did nothing, but nevertheless they came in, fucked shit up, caused a recession, that triggered a progressive leader who came in and fixed it, then immediately once the economy was back on track, another conservative was voted in…

The only outlier would be Bush W, who got voted in right at the dot-com bubble burst, and stayed on until the 2007-08 crisis that got Obama elected

    I built my PC in 2024. Okay specs - 7950X3D, 2x 48GB DDR5-6400, 4090, 1+4TB Samsung 990, all watercooled. About £4k total.

Today I could sell that PC for about 10-12k. RAM was originally £300, now it’s £1800 IF you can buy it. The storage also cost me around £400, today, easily £1500.

  • Re: no glue

Indeed don’t use glue sticks - or if you must, PREHEAT the bed before applying the glue, the heat helps form an even layer you won’t really get with regular glue sticks.

I know it’s expensive but I’ve had extremely good results with 3DLAC’s bed spray. It applies evenly, doesn’t stink like hairspray, isn’t as gunky and sticky to get rid of, and even the worst offenders against bed adhesion have printed like magic after a single coat.

Of course none of this alleviates washing the damn thing with basic dish soap. I do spray mine afterwards with some isopropyl alcohol, but that’s mostly to speed up the drying, not to clean it.

  • They’ve been pushing it for ages, especially the “ID yourself for adult content” laws.

It’s partly to indeed combat the AI/machine noise of the internet, but also to improve their own dataset of people. What kind of porn you watch. What kind of “adult” products you buy (soon to include knives, kitchen and garden tools, etc., because “blade”), they want to know EVERYTHING.

Not just so your ads can be targeted, but because these companies want to replace governments, and that data will be extremely useful to push people into specific roles.

Oh, you’re a rebellious anarchist? Well enjoy the shitty life or we tell people about your kinks - and I 100% guarantee there will be fabricated ones too. Everyone has secrets, and these companies want to learn them all to have absolute control over you.
