Out of curiosity, have you noticed any effect on battery life to have shizuku running all the time?
I’m only using it for canta right now and I enable debugging and shizuku when needed.

I’m guessing the blurb was provided by coder and not written by the author. Like someone else said, it could’ve been worded better.

From the newsletter:
no record of what they touched
From the site:
Centralized model access and policy-controlled environments with full observability and auditability across all AI usage.
We might have some wires crossed somewhere.

Once I got comfortable with immich, I realized photos was my main use of nextcloud and immich was so much better. I replaced the rest of nextcloud’s functionality with syncthing+filebrowser quantum. Haven’t looked back since. Now I don’t have to worry about a nextcloud update randomly causing havoc (user error likely).

Floppy seems cool. I am curious about how/why people use these types of tracking services for their media.

It’s really annoying to go into each entry for items in my local domain and change the detection to host and do that for every service I spin up.

That’s fair. I’m sure we have wildly different experiences around the discussion of vibe coded projects.

It’s cool that he vibe coded something for his specific needs but the lamenting of being unable to share it because of the fear of a backlash is a bit premature. I wonder how long he (and others like him) will be able to keep his project going when he eventually adds more features that introduce more bugs and the effort/cost of maintaining the project becomes too much. We’ve already seen that for the majority of people vibe coding stuff, the answer is relatively quickly.
I’ve found interesting projects that have been vibe coded and seem to be well-maintained but I think vibe coded projects need at least 6 months to a year of history before they replace anything critical in my stack.
For less than $30/year, you could buy your own domain and use it with any number of reliable paid email providers giving you a level of control that isn’t possible with the usual suspects. You don’t need a vps or have to host anything yourself if you don’t want to.
I’ve used Purelymail for a few years and have no issues adding them to the recommendations from others here.
One thing to consider is whether you want IMAP to be able to set up your preferred clients instead of using the providers webmail/apps.

If every update required users to tweak something to restore a setting to a previous state, that should drive users away from firefox. I haven’t had firefox as my daily since late last year (zen now) but that wasn’t my experience during my decades with firefox and my fairly frequent visits to the firefox subreddit indicate that isn’t the case either. I don’t remember an update causing a major issue since the opt-out AI controversy (v145?) so please let me know if other updates since then have had any serious pushback with opt-out features.

Most people aren’t doing fresh installs often enough to get annoyed. There’s also an understanding that Mozilla will need to do things we don’t necessarily like to generate revenue and stay viable. Google isn’t going to fund them forever. As long as we can turn those things off and configure firefox to our liking, we can tolerate such changes.

In that case, any vpn should suffice.

I’ve never used a vpn for libgen but I understand the need to feel safe and that depends on your threat model. What are the realistic consequences of not using a vpn with libgen for you and does using a vpn mitigate them?

IPT is a private torrent tracker. The associated IPTV service is a monthly paid service.
https://iptv.surf/ is a good place to start for people new to IPTV.

There isn’t a single provider that will be suitable for everyone even if it’s just for sports. Better to go on a site like z2u and start trialing services to see which works best for you and your budget. Banzai51’s suggestion is a good one for a higher tier of service. Also, having multiple providers will prove invaluable when your main starts acting up during the game which will eventually happen.

I’m counting down the days until they revoke all existing lifetime passes. With this change and the recent bitwarden price increases, we’re definitely in the era of being squeezed for every dime from all sides.
Like many others, I bought the lifetime plex pass when it was relatively cheap but switched to jellyfin for personal use years ago. I keep plex running for family members but that’ll stop as soon as the lifetime pass goes away.
To get the best quality version, I had to copy the video address from the default reddit site and feed that address to yt-dlp. The alternative is to inspect the redlib page source, get the video link source and give that to yt-dlp.
