Imagine a hypothetical world where Joe Biden had been pro-life (because of his Catholocism) and Donald Trump had been pro-choice (because he thinks fetuses are children and murdering children makes him giggle), but their stances on other issues were unchanged versus reality.

Very few pro-choice people would have swapped to voting for Trump. But millions of pro-life people would have flipped to Biden.

I work in municipal government, and it’s a very good thing that the politicians can’t fire me when their Karen friends call. The mayor and Council hire specific high-level people like the City Manager and the municipal judge, and nobody else.

Any time and effort they spend fighting impeachment is less time they spend fucking up everything else.

That’s more difficult from a jurisdictional perspective. For instance, you may an intersection of 2 streets that are owned by the city and the county with signals owned by the state but under control of a regional transportation authority formed by an interlocal agreement of 20 separate jurisdictions.

We just did a contract in my city for a new traffic monitoring system for 3 signals in town and it involved the city, county, state, and 2 neighboring cities.

ALPRs are poisonous enough right now you wouldn’t get all 5 of those entities to sign on at once.

Nice thing for me is I already have 2 phones. I get a phone stipend for work so I can keep my sensitive personal stuff and my sensitive work stuff on separate devices. I work in the public sector, so it’s especially important because of Open Records stuff.

I know my Time Warner/Spectrum router used to have one back in the day as part of their “nationwide wifi” or whatever it was called.

I bought my own modem and router years ago. Last year I bought a new TPLink router when I wanted to upgrade my wifi and I put custom firmware (OpenWrt) on it to make sure I was in comtrol.

Also - lots of ISP-provided routers have secondary unsecured networks as part of a network for customer devices that you may not even realize are coming from your own router.
