Please elaborate. If flatpak says 2.2.2 is installed and the tool shows its own version as 2.2.2, that sounds about as expected.

Less risky than what? Many apps in flatpak are small hobby projects. Do you think most solo devs who do that for a hobby have a security process? Even if they release new versions weekly you have zero idea how they make use of third party libraries and if they keep them updated and you have no idea about their own code that probably no one audits.

2·5 days agoI heavily use Immich for images and am very happy. Since you can specify custom storage locations it might be worth a shot adding your external storage, let it index everything and then test how it behaves when the external storage is offline. Maybe it keeps thumbnails separate too then you could even browse the library visually and you would only run into errors once you try to open an image.

6·5 days agoNot just the US. I believe capitalism achieved that almost everywhere. People thrive on the idea of suddenly being rich and//or believe themselves to be rich because they have more than someone else they can look down on.
In Germany the leading politicians often fuel this too. When they talk about equality they talk about making those that earn much give more to support those that earn far less or nothing. In the grand scheme of things, even the high earners are poor. The rich people don’t have to earn anything it all. But that is never mentioned (by said politicians).
They (“up there”) basically managed to instigate a class struggle between workers.

6·5 days agoWhat kind of media files? For a typical media collection something like Emby or Jellyfin is quite nice. Then you have your collection and it would just refuse to play media if the file in question isn’t mounted.

22·9 days agoDiscord isn’t federated either and their tenancy is pretty strict (they even call it “servers” even though there is no actual server you create).
In that regard Haven follows that more strictly: your “server” is an actual independent instance you host yourself. You can still link other servers to have basically the same UX as Discord where you can switch between servers from the sidebar.

1·11 days agoWhen dealing with a pussy like Trump you have two possibilities: either you are in a position of power where you can come across as stronger than him (then he adores you) or you have to make him think the thing you want is a clever thing and it’s Trump’s achievement to pick the clever thing. Otherwise he will just steamroll you for the sake of feeling great and powerful.

21·13 days agoThing like that exist and are not new. TrueCrypt had such a function 15 years (or longer) ago already.
The trick is basically to have two partitions in the encrypted volume and depending which key you enter it opens one or the other. The filesystem needs to be given fake data about available free space to hide the “other” one.
It would require a reboot, though.

8·15 days agoFor hiking, cycling etc I love CoMaps and similar apps. But for driving the most important thing is missing and basically impossible to get from free sources: traffic and roadblocks. Those are the main reason for me to use a navigation app in the first place; most routes I drive a easy enough, but knowing the route doesn’t equal knowing the current circumstances along the route.

7·16 days agoThe only thing from the OS that could ruin my day would be a botched kernel update. And that is countered by using the LTS kernel.
KDE updates bring new features but don’t ruin my workflow. And if they do I just roll back to the last snapshot and wait for a fix; never happened yet.
Dev toolchains are versioned by repo anyway. Services run in containers. IDEs are installed with their own version manager.

Only downside is that you have to use one of the listed distros for your argument; so pick the one that will bother you the least. As an ArchLinux (btw) user at work, if I had to switch to Debian or RedHat based I would be a bit pissed; but still better than Mac or Windows.

Normal text based analysis; which LLMs are pretty good at. So our coding agents can follow the rules during development and the review agent can follow it during review. Only static code checks are enforced in the CI pipeline; the review agent only leaves remarks. If we decide to not give a damn, we can still merge it. But its hit-rate is relatively high; so typically when it finds something, it’s valid and its recommendations for fixes are also often pretty good. This helps already iterating on a PR on your own before you pull human reviewers in.
LLM is not knowledge.
