UTC is already an agreed upon standard in some circles. I guess I’m not seeing the problem that people in California show “1600” on thier watches when they go to work. Its arbitrary, work lasts from 1600-0000, why would they need to rearrange thier lives?

Do the numbers on your microwave display have some way to maybe you sleep or wake up?

The international date line is meaningless without time zones, a new day, 00:00, begins at the same time for everyone in the world, there is no line you could cross to move to a different date. 00:00 could be the middle of the night in the UK, or the afternoon in California, or in Japan, but January 1st at 00:00 is still January 1st at 00:00 at all locations.

Idk if you are answering the wrong person or what but DST or standard time is not important to me at all. If your Michigan employer works with new York customers, maybe they start at 1300 UTC. And if they work with California people, maybe its 1600UTC. If they are running a restaurant its maybe 1500 UTC.

It is irrelevant whether they are in Michigan or Florida or the Azores, the absolute UTC start time is just whatever is appropriate for the location and the business.

And there would be no date line if everyone used UTC, there would just be the date which would be the same for everyone. 2300 could be morning in some places and evening in others, but it would be the same date and time.

UTC doesn’t mean everyone has to start at the same time, it just means that 15:00 is 15:00 without calculating offsets, DST boundaries, or the international date line.

And this is exactly why I’m a registered Republican. Florida can’t do enough to help my vote count, but what that vote actually is is confidential, for now.

The GOP is going to have to touch the electric fence to shake the 35% who will vote for them no matter what. The electric fence is taking away social security and Medicare, ironically socialism for some (mostly trump) voters paid for by working age (mostly not trump) voters. I have faith that they are dumb enough though

Maybe they should have switched to selling boat flags. Like every boat in Florida has one of those trump flags.
