Why would you assume I am not mildly critical of the system I live in? I’m on LEMMY not exactly a hotbed of pro capitalism or even liberalism.

I mean, your saucy uncle is also a tool for geanocide, imperialism, and white supremacy. So am I. So are you it you live in…most of the west. If you are American, like me, you have to live in this country.
Not all of us are willing to opt out and move to a commune. Last I looked there were only like, 2 such communes in the US. So it eould really be starting a commune.

Choosing to present as their assigned gender at birth is also a decision. It is not a neutral choice. Not all but many trans kids know they are trans, know that presenting in ways they would prefer is not safe or accepted, and suffer in silence.
Those are the kids we are trying to protect when we want to preserve trans Healthcare for children.

“I allowed my daughter to explore her gender and supported her with therapy and she maintained her gender identity so I don’t think any other children or parents should be able to do what we did.”
Sounds cruel to me.

How the he’ll would you know that?

*1, maybe 2 of them will see a couple years of prison.

10-20 months is optimistic. 10-20 weeks is more likely.

Arrest the conservatives on the SC, send them to guantanemo, and appoint 5 new justices. Let the new justices reverse the disastrous rulings of the current SC.
Conservatives can cry, they made this bed.

The CBP agents involved should be punished for violating the rights of an American.
If judges refuse to enact such punishments those judges should be punished.

I appreciate the context.

My understanding is Herr is an honorific, totally normal. Herr wulf is the equivalent of a 22 year old me saying “Call me Mr Blade.”
It’s cringe so hard it should be lethal.

The young woman Hitler stallked didn’t know he existed. She found out about the crush decades later. He thought she was secretly communicating her love for him via qanon esqe codes like the color of her scarf or where she stopped to eat a pastry.
He was a complete incel buffoon, (obviously not later with Eva Braun, but as a young man) and part of reason he was declared chancellor was they thought he couldn’t do much harm.

Stalin got his start in the bolshevik party as a fundraiser. He robbed banks. Not with a stick up, not with safe cracking. He would roll up with a team, throw some grenades into the building, run in as the dust settled, grab the cash, then throw grenades around dthr Street the cover the getaway.
Stalin was a crazy dumbass willing to kill dozens of innocents for money.
Hitler was an Incel. His college roommate told the world about how he obsessed over a young woman for months, said they were fated to be together, but never got the courage to speak to her.
He carried a horsehip everywhere and hit people that passed him off.
He made people call him “Herr wulf” (Mr wolf) as a badass nickname. This is why his bunker in Berlin was called the wolf’s lair.
They were absolutely fucking stupid.

At least where I live there would need to be a generational project of encouraging unionization and worker owned coops.
Labor is so rare and weak that most people either don’t know anyone in a union or don’t know that they know someone in a union.
Worker owned Co ops are vanishingly rare. I wasn’t able to find any operating in Texas Last time I checked. We don’t have the infrastructure for workers to rise up and manage anything here, so we remain at the mercy of capital.
But, expanding Unions and Co ops is worth doing for its own sake. Even if the revolution never happens, it still improves human welfare.

That makes zero sense. Wealth taxes where implemented do just that. Fund the welfare state.
I have been convinced by the arguments of the economist Gary Stevenson. If wealth inequality is allowed to grow as it has for the past 50 years the rich will inevitably own everything.
If you have a better suggestion to prevent this future, by all means explain it. But investment reducing inequality is nonsense. Who are you borrowing from to make the investment? The wealthy.
That’s like suggesting I pay off my credit card with a different credit card. It’s still debt.

Thats a mighty big strawman you have there. Planning a bonfire?

Those are also good things and we should do them.
Wealth tax isn’t directly going to fund the welfare state. The purpose is to slow or reverse the concentration of wealth into ever fewer hands.
If we fail to tax wealth, every other good government reform will only delay the inevitable slide into poverty. They might delay it for a generation or 2, because many nations have vast resources or have not reached high levels of inequality or both, but eventually, the rich will own everything if they are not stopped.

To your first sentence, that’s the opposite of what I said.
I don’t think wealth taxes should be limited to citizens. If billionaires own wealth here they can pay taxes here. If they don’t like it they can sell their assets in the US.
If billionaires want to move they can obviously do so, but they can keep paying the wealth tax or they can sell their assets in the US. If enough billionaires sell their assets then eventually non billionaires will be able to afford assets. That’s a win for Non billionaires either way.

I live in the US. I’m assuming each nation deals with its superwealthy internally.
Separately, I think the US should dismantle its empire, which would redistribute wealth to the rest of the world.
I apreciate your enthusiasm.
