There were!

There’s surprisingly not that much on the net that I’m finding. I learned about it from a traveling exhibit that came to a localish museum to me, but it’s all extremely recent (in comparison to most paleontological discoveries) mostly really becoming an overwhelming body of evidence in the last 30 years or so, but the earliest discoveries date to the 70s and 80s.

Looks like PBS Nova did a documentary called “Arctic Dinosaurs” and I linked a BBC article in another comment that gives a good overview as well.

A little bit of reading suggests the arctic during the winter would’ve gotten down to around -10C so definitely cold enough to require adaptation, but also warm enough to be fully survivable.

Most of these finds evidencing year-round arctic-dwelling dinosaurs is being found in modern day Alaska and Alberta, but there’s also similar finds from the other side of the world too!

For anyone unaware there’s an incredible growing body of research into Arctic-dwelling dinosaurs. They’re cool as hell and it’s extra cool knowing so much of this was discovered within my own lifetime

The funniest part is I’m not the one who watches it, my wife is. Most of it is just background noise to me, but she’ll poke me to pay attention when they get something really rediculous setup (like the staged assassination plot. Listening to Chatterbox and Vivek planning it was honestly funnier than the staged assassination attempt itself!)

But yeah honestly I find the pacing of live streams to be too slow for me, I just can’t pay attention for that long without anything meaningful happening, then suddenly I’ve missed something massive in the 1-2 hour long conversation I tuned out. But having my wife who finds it’s perfect second screen content for her ADHD to poke me when I need to pay attention or summarize some of the long meandering conversations between characters (seriously I can never tell when it’s an important conversation or not!) it’s almost like I’m a viewer

It’s so funny seeing Ramaswami step back into the public eye after giving Squeex basically half a decade to write a public image for him amongst his audience with his parody character Ramasquamy

Like, I seriously can’t think of Ramaswamy as an actual politician that people take seriously after several years of watching Ramasquamy prance around announcing “Day One!” whilst holding up double peace signs, stage a “peaceful protest” at the city hall on Jan 6th after he lost the mayoral reelection, or setting up a fake assassination plot to have his ear get shot during the mayoral debates last month, pretending to be the incumbent mayor because of being referenced as mayor in the trailer despite there being nobody actually filling the mayoral role, etc.

Would make a good plot for a sitcom!

Without knowing the particulars of the circumstances, it’s very difficult to say that she acted in a predatory manner towards these people

The power imbalance makes any sexual relationship, even completely consensual ones extremely dodgey. Any kind of boundary setting you’d need to do in a healthy sexual relationship becomes marred with questions of “is this going to impact my ability to buy food?” This is why in most workplaces romantic and sexual relationships between managers and subordinates are explicitly banned.

Honestly I feel a little bad for her. She had kids super young, now she’s single and ready to have her wild phase that she couldn’t have when she was younger because of her responsibilities to her kids, except now she’s a Republican in Congress, so she still has to reign it in! If she wasn’t actively making the world worse with her actions in office I’d actually feel bad for her

I’ve said before, I expect we’ll see a future Windows release that’s just a Linux distro with a heavily proprietary userland. The more they can foist off to other projects and foundations for free volunteer labor the less they have to do in-house which is of course expensive

Funnily enough, android being its own ecosystem that happens to use the Linux kernel has led to quite a few improvements over the years in the kernel. Better scheduling, new filesystem drivers (exfat for example) better power management, etc. plus you can use some Linuxy utilities and tricks on Android because it’s ultimately just a Linux distro

For those dark pattern email boxes I like entering things like admin@[website that’s serving a dark pattern mailbox] or marketing@website because 50% of the time it just gives me whatever without any trouble and the other 50% of the time I clear cookies and consider if I really need whatever they’re gating behind harvesting my email…
