I’ve started checking how they claim they’re shipping. If it says 2-4 days but doesn’t list the method, I avoid it. Also, always check the seller before purchase. I’ve noticed a lot of Israeli accounts on eBay, mostly shipping from New Jersey.

Unfortunate but true. Some of these sites are reporting the Signature 27 as having storage configurations as big as 1 TB - if that gets confirmed, I may just spring for that. I’ve recently realized just how much better FLAC sounds compared to streaming, but it takes up so much more space. It’s either that or I find myself an old discman and start carrying CDs with me everywhere. At least a CD player would have a headphone jack!

It looks like Graphene has confirmed that the 27 is the one, though they haven’t put out their official announcement yet. I won’t be surprised if that comes out later today or tomorrow.

Good to know. I’ll have to keep an eye out then. I gotta admit, I was hoping out hope for a headphone jack and expandable storage, but I knew that was unlikely.

Are we sure that’s it? I thought we weren’t getting a GOS-compatible phone until next year, but the 27 is apparently expected to launch in November.

I literally just bought some Hexclad pans…I guess I’ll try to avoid using metal utensils on them regardless. I did use a Caraway pan before and I can confirm that those do not last long at all - absolutely avoid those.

I think successful stylometry would require either a known target (whose writing can be compared to suspected accounts), or a public body of work to compare to. I think this poses the greatest risk to say, known authors writing something anonymously on the side. For the average individual, I think avoiding social media or posting anything written under your government name is probably sufficient. If you’re a known target, obviously your threat model changes drastically.

I’m feeling pretty justified in sticking with Wacom. I only replaced my first tablet because it had a 4:3 aspect ratio and a serial port. (I could’ve lived with the latter, but the aspect ratio was making things skewed on a modern display.)

There was an old episode of TrueAnon about the links between Epstein (and the CIA) to MIT that went over some of this stuff. I’m sure there’s probably a book or article about it somewhere, but I don’t have any better citation at the moment.

It’s so hard for me to read anything by Cory Doctorow or Ed Zitron these days because there’s always this giant, gaping void where class analysis should be. Is this the time they finally connect the dots, I ask myself? No! It’s never the time. It’s always enshittification this and business idiots that and never, ever a single whisper about capital. Brian Merchant and Ed Ongweso Jr. are much better in this regard - if you haven’t read anything by them I recommend you start.

As to the actual content here, this is precisely what the internet was always created to be. Do you think the DoD sorry, DoW created this as a happy accident? Just to help people? It’s always been intended as an anti-informational weapon and a surveillance network in-one. And all the attempts by vassal states to wriggle out of the trap will prove futile. China is the only country handling it the right way, and no capitalist nation will ever have the motivation to follow their example. There’s too much money to be made in making their own little tech fiefdoms.

I cannot imagine being excited by advertisements. Sounds like something out of Fahrenheit 451 or Brave New World.
