I think they mean a cam that doesn’t need to be plugged in through usb to work, like an ip camera.

Anyone who had a dual cassette deck back in the 80’s didn’t have much issue copying music or game cassettes. Floppy disks were easy to copy too.

I think I still have movies that I had ripped off of rented dvds on an old hard drive around here somewhere, from over twenty years ago when I still had dial up internet. (It was quicker to just rent and rip than download a movie at 3-4kps.)
