Today I learnt that PCLOS is still going. Back in the day, it showed me how good a distro could be. Unfortunately, I was an inveterate distro hopper back then.

If you want to go rolling, try Tumbleweed or Slowroll from openSUSE, the former is right on the bleeding edge and the latter rolls a bit behind. They get a lot more testing than Arch so are less likely to have problems. The advantage of rolling is that you don’t have a periodic big update. If rolling doesn’t rock your boat, try Fedora or Mint. Fedora is more up to date.
The thing that will influence how you feel about a distro more than anything is the choice of desktop, so try a few out, at least Plasma, Gnome, Xfce, and Cinnamon. They can all be made to look different to a greater or lesser extent.
Edit: You can even test 100s of them out on distrosea.
needs_root_roghts = no
Is that correct?
You’ve got a backup though, right?

Ah. I don’t use graphical software managers so have no idea that they did that.

In fairness, you have to specifically run that, so you know you are doing a firmware update and that you should be careful.
But Red Hat still sponsor it and that might be enough.

Can’t argue with that

He said “a lot”, he didn’t say “all”

Zorin OS is hardly a niche distro. Is it?
Toilets? Do you poo in the garden? Otherwise good advice!

Fedora Core (so it’s quite a while ago) had dependency hell on a completely fresh install. In fact it was the first update. I’m still salty about it!
EndeavourOS is Arch with an installer and a few utilities. You can install offline and it will use KDE or you can install online and choose KDE. The major difference is whether you need to update after installing.
Yeah, it won’t have been ported to Qt 6 and if IIRC widgets and plasmoids work differently now.
I installed it on my endeavour laptop last night and apart from reconfiguring my dock-like panel and weather widget, it’s all been plain sailing so far. Now I just need Tumbleweed to release it so I can update my main desktop!
I wonder if someone put dev or test certificates live?
