It always confuses the hell out of me when I see an ad from someone’s phone or computer when showing me a YouTube video or something. It’s so jarring that I feel like I got malware on my skin lol

I think my main issue for this one is the requirement for internet. I cannot seem to be able to start it up because bootstrap is trying to download files. I’ve already downloaded the respective Zim file into the data folder. I by default block internet access to all docket images, and leave those I don’t want external access for that way.
If you can update an offline installer, and maybe docker images for the entire project instead of requiring cloning it down, I think this project would be awesome
Probably less reliable for me as a techie. Every time I opened Jami, my firewall alerts would go off about a device on the network calling to China, Russia, and Vietnam lol. Resulted in it almost never connecting for me since my network just blocked way to many connections on it for outbound traffic.
Note that it doesn’t prevent sso sharing. I was signed into Amazon and a separate Firefox (actually librewolf) tab I had opened looking up a movie star on… IMDb force created an account for me using my Amazon account. No I did not get a prompt to accept it and no I did not click anywhere near the login buttons. Seen that this has happened to a few people but not everyone so it’s almost like they’re slow rolling it.
I’ve since isolated Amazon into its own profile altogether and added Amazon to unlock on my main browser profile. And of course requested deletion of my sudden imdb account

Def wouldn’t. As much as I love opnsense and recommend them, their major updates tend to break something every time for me. Then again, my overall setup is a lot more complex than the average person, so maybe that’s on me lol.

It’s great to at least give Gentoo a try, I imagine you learned a lot from it. I’d recommend trying to give it another shot some years down the road when you become a more more familiar with Linux and how to fix things on your own. You’ll find it’s probably way easier than you remembered.
My front yard takes over an hour with a push mower and the terrain is too complex for a ride mower. I’d be curious if I’d be the exception, unless the robot mowers are terrible at landscape changes like a robot vacuum would be. Including some boulders… But maybe still cheaper to hire some kid if I get that far on the lazy scale.

Self hosting searxng was the best decision I ever made for search engines. Just point it to a bunch of different engines of my choice and use it. I seriously no longer ever find myself with the old habit of “ugh okay maybe I’ll get better results in [insert other engines] this time”… Probably cause it’s using them all.
On my really old gaming laptop, I had to force X because Wayland refused to use the video card drivers for games, so everything would end up on the CPU.
On my main gaming machine, I have to manually run nvidia-smi to make Wayland recognize the video card is still there before I start a game, otherwise it attempts to run games on the CPU.
There’s definitely some work that needs to be done. That being said, when it does work, I have no gripes. I just hate the fact it really really wants to use the CPU instead of the (Nvidia) graphics cards for graphical things by default.
