I would love to see this using disposable vape batteries. That would make it a nice ‘circle of life’.

So funny, I was just searching for these functions yesterday. (As is which os has it).

My ideal would be:
One sandbox instance with reading apps - that unlocks with fingerprint.
And a second for everything else.

Motorola can’t come fast enough. I’m even tempted to get one without external sd card.

Honestly at this point I don’t know what is propaganda and what isn’t.

Honestly I am just applauding every time a new contender shows up.
Eu is trying to step away from US monopoly products. And trying to do stuff on their own.
China taking over the best supercomputer.

And while capitalism is one of the worst thing invented on the planet. I’m hesitant to say China’s system is the way to go.
The Eastern Block wasn’t happy with the Mother Russia - if the system is forced without any smarts behind it - it will just sour every survivor’s thinking.
Not that Ice is any better than Gestapo or KGB. It is sad to see patterns repeating themselves.

I like this new Chinese warfare. Releasing free AI models to undermine US firms, not letting US buy their rare earth minerals opening up a YouTube competitor.
These are all hurting the people wo are leeching the money out of the middle class, and making laws to keep 'em poor and stupid.
I’m not looking forward the upcoming economic crash, and the whole climate change thing happening… But we all had it coming.

Do you have options for virtual attendance?

its in the article, you just scroll down…

I think fediverse has the best shot at being better than existing big corpo crap.
To get away from trackers and ads you have to pay for that / run ot out of your basement.
People pay with their information for those ‘freee’ services.

Do you even realize what you are doing?

Insulting the conversation partner just because you can.
Avoiding and not even acknowledging talking points.
Preaching propaganda, name dropping.
You are not showing anything that’s positive and actually open to discussion. Very demagogue.

And you made it sure I never going to pay attention to this project again.

I never said use the same status quo. Gather in bigger groups. You are being conquered by being divided.
My problem is the miniscule groups. Just look at the other comments. No one said: “yes, this is the future!”.
Ivory tower.

I don’t understand the second part of your comment.
If you want to make something better you think insulting others will do it?

A ‘new’ protocol that won’t have much chance to be inseminated into the general population just means those projects will separate the idealist groups into smaller groups. Who would probably have more chance working together against the big system.
Hence locking yourself in the tower.

Edit: typo

It feels like the good old Ivory Tower. “The let’s lock ourselves in!” mentality never worked in changing the world for a beter place.
I’m not saying having principles and standing against slop/spyware/privacy nightmare is bad. But it feels a bit off to me.
I wish the best, and I want the best for the future.

I loved their note:

Note: This article is about Gemini, the HTTP-like Internet protocol for document browsing, and not the large language model or the cryptocurrency of the same name. Nor it is about astrology.

The idea sounds interesting. I’m not against trying new things, but it seems kinda dead in the water?
For me forums were big part of my Internet history - but it is history. I’m not sure many people would choose to go back…

I’m hopeful. I want my next phone without Google or Samsung - and I really hope Motorola will deliver their promises.
And also that the upcoming phone have to have an extendable storage for me to buy. It is my main principle - unfortunately I had to give up on headphone jacks…

People keep forgetting the subscription based seat heating/cooling in BMWs.
You have the hardware but you didn’t pay for the subscription so you can’t use it.

So after that I don’t know why people are so surprised by the “we-are-going to-do-it-only-once-for-this-special-movie-we-pinkie-promise-never-again” event.

Agreed. But this is late stage capitalism where there is zero place for socialist values. And keeping those books available for the future is totally socialist / communist way of thinking.

I know it’s evil… But that’s how money and physical ownership work. They have it and nobody else can have it…

It’s a bit interesting thinking about Fahrenheit 451 in this new twist of reality.

You can have a business card with a "phone"number on it. (Your pin can be any part of that number it is only you who needs to know where to start reading the code). You don’t need to have a sus number only piece of paper. :)
