  • I think the terms get mixed up sometimes. Israel calls it the war of independence. The displacement was part of “Plan Dalet”. Nakba sometimes refers to the displacement and massacres specifically and sometimes to the whole war.

Don’t get me wrong, war crimes were committed (if that was a thing back in '48 not sure). I just don’t like the characterization that Israel is a terrorist state that terrorizes all its neighbors. This was not one-sided at all.

  • That’s a wild telling of what happened in 1948.

After the Brits left Mandatory Palestine it was basically an existential war for Israel. Israel declares independence and immediately gets invaded by Egypt, Iraq, Transjordan and Syria, supported by the Arab Liberation Army and corps of volunteers from Saudi Arabia, Lebanon and Yemen.

After the war Israel extended it’s borders. Some say for security, some say as territorial conquest for more Jews to settle.

This is very much not as one-sided as you make it out to be.
