Describing the extra steps does not magically make them not extra steps.

Probably?

This is just what signal does with extra steps… Even telegram private chats do this for you, and many other e2e-enabled apps. That’s exactly what e2e is when it’s implemented in an app, except you don’t have to copy-paste the encrypted data around yourself…
This seems more useful for someone’s secret notes or something than e2e chat.

The people to blame are the morons that hooked up utilities controls to the internet…

Psychopaths correctly identify that both parties of many countries are ran by people more interested in enriching themselves than helping the people.
This is not a symptom of certain parties being more vile, but a symptom of both parties having been infiltrated by these scum.
That does not make the parties equal, so this whole thing really comes off as utterly and completely missing the point.

The statistical artifact is the interesting part so many people reference, so I don’t see the problem. It’s just often used to reference only the subset of idiots that don’t know much and think they do. That’s still a big section of people exhibiting peculiar behavior even if the conclusion is, “on average, people over and under estimate at similar rates”. It was never the about the rates.
Eh. No. I’d argue actual minimal spending should say that these services never learn what the internet is.
