Not only are they well aware Rockstar won’t do that, imo they also don’t have the full build they’re pretending they do. Obviously “request what you want to see and ill show it to prove it” can be easily gamed with a very limited build or even just a bunch of prerecorded footage on a very limited build.

Why/how would I recommend a distro to someone who has used multiple distros, but doesn’t even bother saying what they are, what they didn’t like about them, or what they are looking for?

You can just recommend something you think is good, but again, there is no such thing in your head. The only good distro to you is the one that doesn’t exist.

I would have much preferred if all that effort went towards improving GIMP and existing open formats.

Yeah good advice, ignore anyone who actually recommends a distro. Only listen to the person whose only advice is what not to do. The only valid distro is the hypothetical perfect Linux distro that exists in your head.

I am working 12 hours a day plus 2 hrs commuting, when I get home, I want to chill.

I dont want to deal with package managers, window managers, network/gpu drivers and random asian guys github repository to fix my issues.

I also work 12 hours a day (not a 2 hour commute though that’s insane you need a new job) and I don’t want to deal with broken windows update, bluescreens, advertisements, re-disabling some bloatware that windows re-enabled without my consent, permissions issues, the goddamn fucking registry

Linux just works, windows is way more of a hassle

Probably not significantly? The Steam machine wasn’t very popular afaik, it’s a really bad time to be a company selling prebuilt PCs because pc part prices are insane right now.

But yes everything Valve does these days is Linux based. Their work on wine/Proton (which they did largely for steam deck support) is probably the biggest factor in people swapping over.
