  • Honestly, this was all predicted. The retarded masses are FINALLY figuring out that Trump is even more retarded than they are, and Trump is now a toxic brand. Every republican that wants a future in politics are now distancing themselves from Trump, saying that Trump is bad but us old establishment republicans are the good guys actually! Just remember when you hear these politicans condemning Trump, there will always be multiple videos and tweets of them swallowing Trump’s load. JD Vance will once again condemn Trump when it’s politically convenient, mark my words.

  • I use both EndeavourOS and Debian stable and I love them both for different reasons. The main thing about these Arch distros is updates: You can’t really tell what’s a security update and what isn’t, so you either end up updating and relogging/rebooting a lot or not doing updates and being vulnerable. I wrote a script and systemd timer to check for updates for certain software (like browsers) and do them without updating the rest of the system so I can then update the rest of the system more infrequently.

  • Choosing a distro to stay on is a personal decision, it’s not one we can make for you. The real solution to distrohopping is to just keep doing it until you don’t feel like doing it anymore. There’s a spectrum between (trying new things and being unhappy) and (being lazy and settling). That’s a scale only you can feel.

  • I’m not saying KDE should do one thing or another, I understand that maintaining code, even unchanging code as you claimed, takes effort.

Yes, they’re going to force me to switch to Wayland on this machine. I’m on X because I need autokey, pyautogui, and TeamViewer. I need to look into alternatives and switch, except I don’t have the option of replacing TeamViewer.

I’m not really partisan in the whole X vs Wayland jihad, I run Wayland on my 2 other machines and don’t notice any difference.

  • I like to set up klipper actions to do automation on certain clipboard actions. I have them for sending certain URLs to special programs, converting credit card charge emails into a new item in a spreadsheet, doing 2 bandcamp things. I used to have some cool automation set up with starting and stopping activities, but they removed that functionality and now I have a worse one with the command output widget. I also love using window rules to customize my programs and where and how they appear.

  • Everyone here is throwing resources about where to learn more about Bash instead of answering the question. I’d say regex is good to learn regardless as it’s pretty much used everywhere, but advanced bash scripting probably isn’t worth the trouble unless you’re using sysvinit scripts or something. Bash was really the first language I learned and nowadays I find myself starting scripts in bash and then quickly converting over to python the moment I have to manipulate strings. Python is much more straightforward in that regard.
