The problem is that social media algorithms thrive on engagement, and the fastest way to further that engagement is hate.
Not to worry, though! The last internet-organised boycott of a Harry Potter product went really well and…oh…

Where did you read that it would be discontinued?

From memory, Spotify is quite an outlier in terms of how bad it is. Like almost any competitor is better. People are going out of their way to choose the worst option and then virtue signalling online about it lol

Conversely, some commenters defended the strategy, arguing that free-tier users shouldn’t expect day-and-date parity with paying subscribers, especially since Spotify’s ad-supported tier contributes a fraction of the per-stream payouts compared to Premium accounts.
Always amusing when Spotify subscribers claim to care about musicians. If you actually cared, you would not be paying for a streaming service and especially not Spotify.

There is absolutely no way this kind of device needs 12 GB of RAM, but I suspect they are feeling the heat from the Minimal Phone 2 and are now trying to match it where possible.

I assume the keyboard is the most important part for you, considering you are holding on to such an old BlackBerry. The Communicator design looks way better for typing, much more stable and comfortable with its thicker, curved back. The Minimal Phone 2 may look nicer but being thin and flat is not good when you need to press keys.
Both companies have their issues, but from what I know about them I find Clicks to be a little more trustworthy. They’ve been developing hardware, albeit not phones, for a while now and seem reasonably stable. I’ve only heard positive reviews of their keyboards. Minimal is a small company and the fact they’ve made such a radical departure from their first phone doesn’t fill me with much confidence, particularly since it had a lot of issues. It feels a bit like they’re abandoning their Gen 1 customers.

The article is about the smartphone market in the US. Not the Android market.

Yes, in my experience they do not deliver on their update promises and are extremely inconsistent with their timing which creates unnecessary security gaps.

That’s a better phone in most aspects, there is no reason to regret purchasing it. Enjoy it now that you own it. Fairphone always say that the fairest phone you have is the your current one.

HERE WeGo, but it’s only an alternative in terms of navigation.

And Apple.

It’s a pretty consistent theme with these guys that get caught that they’re not even taking basic precautions. Many pirates have openly bragged about seeding or even selling pirated material under their real name prior to their arrest. I don’t think we have to brainstorm a million different ways the authorities might have tracked him down - he’s probably just stupid like all the others before him. Uploaders and providers often seem to develop massive egos that become their eventual undoing.

You are claiming a rollout that begun in September 2025 is the sole or major cause of a MAU count that was announced in August 2026. By your logic, nearly 1 billion people are still being tricked into using Gemini months or, in some cases, close to a year after it became the default option on their device. This obviously makes no sense and I still don’t think you read the article, but if you did then must be absolutely delusional.

If you used assistant then clicked on it expecting assistant but instead your phone switched to using Gemini without telling, then you’re counted as having used it. But did you willingly use Gemini?
Well yes, if you entered a prompt. As it said in the article, and as I highlighted for you in bold above.

Clearly neither of you read the article:
Gemini has wormed its way into virtually every Google product and service, powering email organization in Gmail, document summary in Drive, and much more. Gemini is also core to Google’s flagship search experience, with AI Mode and AI Overviews becoming increasingly hard to avoid. The 1 billion-user metric has nothing to do with any of that, though.
These 1 billion users may also be encountering Gemini in all those places, but that’s not the MAU metric. Pichai is talking only about people who are opening the Gemini app or visiting the Gemini web interface to enter a prompt or access Gemini Live. If you used Gemini only once in the past month, you are part of this cohort.

But this whole audio jack debacle has made it clear that despite very wide pushback (that they themselves admit), they don’t care about what users want and will prioritize profits.
Where are you getting this “prioritise profits” line from? They have reported losses for the last three financial years, and in 2022 (the last year they were profitable) Fairphone had a profit margin of 0.07%.
And even then, it depends on the location and the generation. Australia is a very large (by land mass) country with pretty distinct regional cultures, not everyone speaks like a bogan or thinks bogan language is funny.
