  • There is a point at which the “best possible” is not sufficiently distinct from the worst possible that it becomes irrelevant for the individual in question. There was literally no benefit to Fetterman over Oz for most people. The only option was to work to make sure neither of them ever get another chance and to try to mitigate the harm that was going to be done when either one wins. I want to be clear, I don’t think this applies to the party as a whole but this is why (from the perspective of many) it does, because in their specific case the outcome is the same regardless. It’s a perfectly rational choice at the scale of the individual, because their interests, aren’t even on the ballot.

  • If your religion requires you to hate and condemn and persecute others for their mere existence, for circumstances far from their control, for the who they love, what they look like, and where they came from, you worship evil, and no I will not support your right to harm others because it’s your “Faith.” And for those who think that’s persecution, good. Because bad ideas deserve to be persecuted. You don’t have to hold those beliefs. That’s a choice. If you value hate more than you love your neighbours, then you’ve made a choice. Make better choices.

And stop calling yourself a Christian. I may not believe in any mythology, but there’s nothing more disgusting than watching people twist old myths into an excuse for cruelty, and I don’t care if it’s Christian Extremists, Islamic Extremists, or Heathen Extremists pretending to worship Odin. Cosplaying a zealot is not exercising “Religious liberty”, you’re just a sadist whatever your rationalization is.

  • So an untalented hack wrote a puff-piece about an algorithmically amplified bit of rage-bait from a small group of young people who can’t do math or define “Millennial” running their mouths on TikTok, to try to provoke some kind of pissing contest and somehow this counts as Politics? This Millennial is not taking the bait nor should anyone else. Gen Z doesn’t want our jobs. They want jobs that pay money. And so do we. Anyone amplifying this nonsense is helping the people with a cookie factory convince the guys with a half a cookie, that the guys with a crumb of a cookie are trying to “Take our Jobs” for the entertainment of watching us fight.

Get a grip, we’ve been watching this for decades. Stop letting them play you.

    Edit: autocorrect

  • Not so gullible after all are you.

You are correct, it’s actually a reference to highly processed “pink slime meat” made by taking low quality meat meat scraps, chemically sterilizing them within an inch of their life and forcing them through a fine mesh at high pressure, then forming the resulting homogenized slime into a shape that vaguely resembles a real cut of meat. You know, low quality hot dogs, chicken cutlets and nuggets, hamburger, that kind of thing. Stuff that is technically “meat” but mostly the stuff you’d only eat if you were desperate.

  • I think it’s a stretch to say one Party is willing to do something. I think the people willing to do something tend to end up in one party, and those are not the same thing. I think there’s a plurality, and perhaps even a majority within the Democrats that are committed to actually helping, but there’s also a significant faction that are committed to undermining every step forward, and that’s going to keep being a problem. By “A lot more pro-labor” what they end up meaning is that there’s a lot of pro-labor reps, but they’re never going to make a difference because the rest of the party isn’t going to commit to being a real “party” with shared goals and principles and the things that make a party more than just a fundraising apparatus. It’s two parties in a trench coat, one with money and very little public appeal, and one with broad public appeal and very little money.

Now that does mean something important. It means they’re probably not going to successfully make things worse, which at this point is a lot more than we can say for the GOP, and that matters, but it also means that if things are going to get better, we’re going to have to figure out how to do it ourselves, and not look to “the party” to save us.
