Not only does cachy work perfectly, Debian needs so much fiddling around to get latest software versions it’s a hindrance for a lot of stuff including gaming

2·3 months agoAbsolutely, but hard to say if they’ll manage to benefit much from that position. I’m really curious what the specs (…and price…) of the iPhone 18 will be.

1·3 months agoHonestly I would have been surprised if they came to save the day, why would they subvention our broken economic system? If they ever enter the market (outside China) I doubt they would undercut memory suppliers that much.

Linux@lemmy.ml•Rust Coreutils cp Ended Up Breaking Ubuntu Image Builds With Latest Incompatibility
1·4 months agoI love rust, but I absolutely hate how it’s used to jam MIT licenses where GPL belongs. Maybe it’s time we consider using corpos tools against them, and use an AI to rewrite GNU utils to Rust, so that people can continue contributing to Rust while not feeding corps?
Edit: Though licensing AI software is iffy at best, you’ve got to own the copyright to something to licence it: Non-human productions are legally non-copyrightable. Also it might be better to just have humans do it anyway. The intent of my message was just that maybe we ought to deprive MIT-licensed projects from FOSS-motivated developers by providing Rust GPL alternatives to MIT/corporate Rust projects
it might be a failure to read on my part but this reads as unfixed on Debian but fixed on Arch
Edit: Oh, yeah ok, in the security repo it’s fixed, why is the vulnerable version distributed to stable though?
