Any of the devices on the Slimbox website

I’m currently using a Tanix W2 running Slimbox with Projectivity Launcher and SmartTube.

I’m not sure how long I have that box, maybe about 5 or 6 months. But before that I had another with the same setup for a good few years and without any issues.

There are plenty of devices on that site that with (obviously) a Slimbox version for them, including Xiaomi Tv Stick and other Google TV devices.

I’m not sure how Slimbox manages the DRM (widevine) on those devices, but widevine doesn’t bother me as I don’t use any of the apps that require it.

Hadn’t seen the price hike (they’re not really advertised where I am) and can’t get the ONN here. But $149!? The Nvidia Shield is cheaper!

Yep, same thing I think, just Launcher Manager, and Launch Manager just make it easier, especially on those devices that hide accessibility access/services.

Have you tried Launcher Manager with the custom launcher?

But if they’re using it for their ai, won’t they be seeding it from them on? I mean, you might not be able to download an entire book in one go, but you may be able to after 100 questions, or something similar…

Nuvio - it uses the same stremio addons, you can import your settings. Nuvio can do more too.

But when Stremio shits the bed, have you checked that all of your addons are up to date, have you disabled any of the default addons (e.g. cinebye)? Have you tried to login to your stremio profile on a different platform or another version of Android to see if has the same issues?

That looks like a nice little device, I am not sure how portable, maybe just in the house… I will find out. I will forward that device for sure, and I have no idea why a standard bluetooth speaker can’t do it, maybe it just wasn’t thought of. Speaker with microphone hooked to his Lenovo wouldn’t be bad.

Thanks, yep, I should clarify. The dads brother is working on an opt out project and he is trying to learn, but in very early days yet. I think it is because of his son that he would like more privacy but he is fairly backward about it. For example he says he wants to do it and is going to start, but afaik he hasn’t even done any basics, but he is definitely going to start more as he is also getting nudges from me, his brother and another friend of ours.

That’s not a bad idea, I will suggest that to him, although I doubt that he will be able to put lineageOS on it and he is in another country from me, so might be able to help him strip it down anyway.

I know very little about DAB radio other than they initially flopped. Can the child ask to play x,y and z songs?

I don’t think there are any parental controls, as last I remember seeing a conversation about it, one of the devs spoke about it being incredibly difficult to implement. But there may be some addons that can help a little like
