Ah, right its stored as (rather basic) html instead of markdown.

I love ghost’s UI and feature set.
What complex data format are you taking about? Last time I checked, it was plain markdown in a database (even supporting sqlite).
What I’d recommend though, is coupling it with a static site generator and only using the ghost server for the administration / authoring (guides). That way, serving the blog to visitors is basically free in terms of resources (at last as low as it gets). You could even push these static builds to a CDN (yes yes, selfhost community, I’m just saying it for completeness)
It might be some hassle to set this up somehow, but you could even have the container stopped unless you actively need it. You could even run the server application on your computer instead of the server, unless you want to access is from a smartphone/tablet.
If you really want an alternative to Ghost and don’t need user management and an online WYSIWYG editor, you could go straight to an SSG and feed itraw it markdown files.

Or if it works offline on an inbox dump, like pst files. It looks like it’s accessing the obvious using IMAP right?
It running locally and having source code available are already great attributes.
I’m usually unhappy with the “just audit the code for yourself” argument, not just because doing that is limited to (experienced) programmers, but often because of the sheer size and (un)readability of the code. I didn’t have a deep dive to give a proper review, just looked at a few files and the code is at least well written and readable, so “just audit this code” isn’t completely out off question.
Thank you for sharing!
[I’m not saying that the expectation of every piece of software needs to be that every one can audit the code, I don’t want to pressure you into thinking that’s what users demand, OP. Especially of the alternative is often to trust closed source options from shady companies]

That’s… Ridiculous. The whole post. Unhelpful, fear mongering, technical misinformation, and all of this without mentioning a sensible reason to begin with. “A person I know had a pretty significant issue that could have ended badly […] They got an email”. Yeah wow. A clear demonstration of misunderstanding DNS, cookies, autofill, and several other computer concepts (By an @programming.dev account??)
I’m not saying that exor should feel ashamed for not knowing better. A “can someone explain me what’s going on?”-type of post would’ve been better.

Do you mean this is larger than your bed size? How did you achieve that?

Looking at smart TVs, we’re also stuck with several incompatible systems (Samsung’s Tizen, LG’s webOS, Amazon FireTV’s new non-android crap, …). In my experience, most users don’t care, except for some power users. If people can’t install a Lemmy app on their BrandNewOS, they wouldn’t even notice, because all the “common ones” like Facebook are there and they didn’t even consider looking for more niche options. And even the more popular niche options sometimes get community apps, like TizenTube (adfree YouTube) or Switchfin (Jellyfin on the freaking Nintendo Switch).
Also, whether we like it or not, “hey Claude port this android app to harmony” is a thing.

No, tailscale is a VPN in the original sense, your devices act like they’re in the same network much like your WiFi printer does at home, regardless of open ports. So it works with any ports and applications, not just ssh.
You might need to change the hostname you are trying to access. If e.g. homeserver.example.com points to your public IP, it still won’t work any better. But if your devices is called “homeserver” in tailscale and on your other (client) device you point to http://homeserver/, then the tailscale DNS would resolve it to the tailscale-internal IP and it will route through tailscale.

Cool thing, I appreciate you creating things and sharing them. But wrong community?
VirusTotal report for reference

If you want VPN support in docker containers, I was surprised his well gluetun works with any container.
Though ironically metube is the one thing I intentionally took out of the VPN, because too baby sites I cares about blocked it and I didn’t care about VPNs too in that use case.

I appreciate your comment, you so add good additional points. But look, though there has been a number of cases of police breaking into houses to conduct searches, because people mildly criticized politicians online, please do consider that OP doesn’t think that should be called a “raid”. It looks nothing like what you see in action movies, tbf. Also courts ruled some of these raids to be illegal, so obviously there’s nothing to worry about. Just some illegal police bullying, everything’s fine. Against people who called individual politicians “dicks”. Online. OP did not manage to find an exact number of such cases, so it can probably be dismissed.
The official, UN special rapporteur investigated Germany, but she’s unpaid and independend of the UN, so does it even count?
I would like to point out that the post seems to be highly politically motivated and appears to manipulate readers through disinformation.

This is the way to go. This way, it’ll persist even across cookie purges, browser containers, etc.

Welcome to Lemmy! Thank you for sharing your work.
I’m a bit surprised about several commits aimed to improve the performance of the GUI/web app. Given the tool’s purpose, I wouldn’t have expected improvements to the first frame rendering time. Though I’m not complaining.

Yes, indeed. Except not very social, if it’s exclusive. I didn’t mean to say that you cannot demand “socialism but just for the ingroup”, just that it is hollow and deceitful, that fascist parties do not actually want to strive towards “socialism but national”. Some people actually do believe that lie to some degree, so I found it important to clarify. I don’t think you need to be told in particular.

To give more context to this (hopefully sarcastic) comment: national socialism is a misnomer, it has no intention of being any socialist. They consider socialists and communists as their primary enemy. Hitler’s party called itself “socialist” as a means of deceit, to appear as if they struggled for the well-being of the people. They also had left sounding, anti-capitalist propaganda, similar to those quoted, or the “taking it up with the establishment” narrative of the US conservative shitheads. e.g. they demanded wealth redistribution. Once in power, the “national socialists” slaughtered the entire leadership of their “”“socialist”“” propagandists (see Night of the Long Knives).
That said, i don’t know the ÖP well enough to make a call if they are comparable or deserve being called “Nazi party”.
My dad used to put “Google” in the omnibar (adressbar), hit enter, then click the first Yahoo search result for google.com, then enter his actual search query into Google.
I’m not saying that’s great news, but it doesn’t sound like the self destruction move that some OSS companies have done recently. I wouldn’t migrate away just because of that change. In the end, they have to find a sustainable mode of operation.
