Seriously was the author paid by the word? Also even though I believe their main point is valid, they employ more than one Straw Man argument in conveying their reasoning. Nevertheless I have been opting out of passkeys since I first saw them for the simple reason that I was being told by sites and apps that I should use them - and I know that no company ever advises you to do something that’s in your own best interest. Therefore I didn’t trust by default. lol.

1·22 days agoI agree that’s something you need to pay attention to, for sure. That doesn’t mean all developers therefore need to use AI in their applications, it just means you should stay up to date and aware of these things.

11·24 days agoI don’t know what that is; not a professional developer. And I truly meant when I said no offense because I was simply latching onto your comment to address the principle. If you - or whomever - don’t have a problem with integrating AI, then my statement isn’t directed toward you. It seemed based on your wording, that you’re opposed to it but accept the inevitability and therefore embrace it. That’s exactly what allows it to flourish - everyone sharing that reaction.

178·26 days agoLaziest attitude. An excuse to just comply and conform. If it’s something you oppose, then fucking oppose it. Your expression of apathy is what most people do, but plenty don’t really want to. Then grow a spine. No offense with my hyperbole.
It’s kinda like root-ish privileges. It facilitates doing things that you’re not technically prohibited from accessing, but there simply is no interface for. It uses administrative console commands (administrative in the management sense, not like administrator=root sense) to execute changes that don’t have any pathway built-in for the end-user.
Personally, nearly all my devices are rooted, but I did use Shizuku for some accessories on a few devices. It’s a bit of ado to setup; not difficult just a handful of steps. Worth it if you really need or want to do something the GUI won’t provide and you’ll likely find more uses down the line.

3·2 months agoFor an older system I’ve been very pleased with the performance of Bodhi Linux. And the UI is very customizable.

And they still won’t implement a simple bookmarks Home page like Safari has. Uneditable shortcuts, limited to a dozen… it’s like they just forgot that there’s users on the other end who need user-tools and functionality.
